Brand Character: “Classy Chic”

Using a thorough discovery process, we determined the characteristics that will define Just A Really Good Manicure. We looked at competitors, existing brand preferences of the target audience, and the general vision for the atmosphere of the mobile salon. Based on our conversations and research, I came up with a list of relevant keywords which I distilled into the phrase “Classy Chic.” This unique brand descriptor was used as a guide throughout the entire branding process.

Moodboard

In order to clarify the direction for the brand, I put together an inspirational moodboard. The moodboard gave us a chance to take all the concepts we’d identified and see how they might be expressed visually. This process gave the client a chance to approve or discard ideas and put us on the same page with the look before moving forward with any design.

The logo

We went with a typographic logo for several reasons: because of the length of the name itself, research showed us that this style was a trend within the other high end brands that were attractive to the target audience of the company, and lastly because the simplicity of it communicated the clean and modern nature that differentiates the brand from competitors. The brand would be further expressed with unique textures and patterns.

Patterns & Textures

The wordmark is very simple, however the textures and patterns help to make the brand distinct and recognizable. A modern geometric pattern is combined with a very organic peeled paint texture. A luxurious gold texture is also used as an accent.

Fonts

Our “classy chic” brand is supported by the font choice. We paired a minimal sans serif for headlines with an elegant serif font for body copy to create a modern, upscale look.
